July 25, 2006, 5:30 p.m.Fox is the nittiest thing around. Especially that Bill O'reilly. He is neither fair nor balanced. I was republican until I grew up.

July 25, 2006, 5:46 p.m.What Fox did with this piece is actually mild in comparison to most of their stuff.

July 25, 2006, 7:01 p.m.If fox is a propaganda machine for the Bush administration, then what does that make CNN, MSMBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, NYT, Time Magazine, Newsweek? The list goes on. I think it is fair that the right have at least one show on their side.

July 25, 2006, 7:15 p.m.The only reason fox is popular is they have hot newscasters (Laurie Dhue, Eddie whatever her name is). Don't you wish your newscaster was hot like fox's. Just kidding, Erica Hill of CNN is really hot, or how about that Suzanne Malveux.
In all seriousness though Fox is an ok network, and so is cnn. Most of the time when I want the real story from around the world I watch BBC.

July 25, 2006, 7:23 p.m.Good grief, there's nothing wrong with the edited clip. Fox News always shows brief news related clips from comedy shows, such as Jay Leno and Jon Stewart. Now, I think that anybody with common sense would realize that this was meant to be funny. The unedited one was funnier with all the coaching, but Fox News doesn't have time to show the entire thing. It was just supposed to be a simple thing to make people laugh.

July 25, 2006, 7:30 p.m.I saw both the original and the clip shown by Fox. I thought it was all meant as humor. I didn't interpret the Fox clip as anything devious or harmful. After watching the You Tube "expose," I still think that both Colbert and Fox presented the clips as Wexler joking. So, I don't dislike Fox. I don't see anything wrong. They presented it as a joke.
I really admire Wexler for going along with the humor. It's too bad that everything -- even a congressman's being "human" and a "nice guy" -- gets twisted into something it isn't.
As someone said -- was it Rodney King? -- "Why can't we all just lighten up?"

July 25, 2006, 7:34 p.m.From the get-go I knew it was a joke when I saw the FOX report. It was funny and I didn't get the impression that congressman Wexler was serious. It was clear that he was playing along with a joke when the interviewer proposed "Let's have some fun..." - which was included in the FOX clip. To me calling this clip biased is really stretching things. Taking the hesitations out (probably to save time) only made the clip funnier than it originally was. I think there are more valid evidences of bias on the part of FOX News Channel that can be discussed.

July 25, 2006, 7:37 p.m.If this was meant to be funny, why has the anchors at FOX News over the last five days been so vocal about this story and trying to make congressman Wexler out to be a drug addict.
I saw the Colbert show that night and I thought Wexler had a great sense of humor...just hope the 'Right' does not make more out of this than what this is all about.

July 25, 2006, 7:43 p.m.I saw it as funny, with Mr. Wexler being a good sport. But of course, Fox will keep harping on it...what else do they have to report on...they have no good news from their end!!

July 25, 2006, 7:47 p.m.geez, give me a break. the fact that he even got involved in that pointless conversation and even more pointless dialogue is probably the reason that fox news broadcast that in the first place.

July 25, 2006, 7:49 p.m.now.... i do believe they should and could have been more explicative in their story AND i can surely comprehend the ambiguity of their actions (could be misleading) but to judge their motives for putting it on there(?), I think, is going a little far. what was robert wexler thinking? how about nothing. it was funny and it should have been left for the people who are interested in laughing at him - the folks at comedy central, you and me. thank you.

July 25, 2006, 7:51 p.m.Come on guys. I actually registered as a user just to respond to these comments. Now I am not going to sit here and defend Fox or bask CNN. They all have their agendas and faults. But the reaction to this Fox piece is defies all sense.
CLEARLY, everyone involved from the Fox reporter to Colbert and Wexler, is obviously laughing and making no reference to this being a legite news article. Was Wexler taken out of context??? No! the entire Colbert Report was a skit, just as you would find on Saturday Live. Was Wexler "coached" into saying what he said? No, it was all said and done in fun as entertainment. The only reason he repeated his line was because Colbert jokingly told him to say it without laughing.
The Fox reporter was laughing and everyone who watches the Colbert Report knows is was meant to be funny. Nobody at Fox is condeming Wexler.
Does anyone have a sense of humor?

July 25, 2006, 8 p.m.Come on Christopher1. Find me ONE link or clip that shows Fox spending the last five days trying to prove that Wexler is a drug addict! I just did a search on Fox's website and there is only one article that peratins to him. That article clearly states that what he said was a joke and explained in details the entire episode. Below is the link...
