Clinton Eugene Curtis testified that he wrote a computer program that could be used to flip an election for a conservative.....& where did this testimoney lead? Was the firm he worked for investigated? Was he charged with election tampering? Did the DOJ open investigations? WTH is wrong with this country? Have we been drugged? No one can see what has happened? No one can see that we have the makings of an illegitimate government? No problem with any of this?

What is wrong with the US, indeed? During the infamous recounts, the whole world was watching in open-mouthed amazement as we all learned about hanging chads and pregnant chads.
I don't understand this fascination with voting machines. I'm all for machines, but voting is one place where I wouldn't want to see them. You really need transparency there. I know it's old fashioned, but what is wrong with good old paper ballots with an X beside the selected candidate's name.
Canada had an election with paper ballots about the same time when the various US recounts were taking place. The votes were counted within hours of the polls closing.
The beauty of such an election is that even a 2nd grader can recount the votes if the results are too close. With representatives of the various parties present at each polling station, fraud is hard to commit, and disputes can be settled easily.

That jerk of a programmer never heard of a checksum? Basic programming. When downloading programs from the internet many places have a value to compare to when a program checks the download. If the numbers don't match something is wrong. All the board has to do is run a checksum of the program right after setup and another just before deploying. While they might not "find" the code its existence would be known. Any halfway decent programmer should know this technique.

not2needy: You know they used it. They had to. They wanted Bush over Gore because they had plans for Iraq. Cheyney and his henchmen had already decided where the oil would go. Bush had already set up plans for spying on American citizens. Didn't his daddy once run the CIA or have a lot of control over it. Thanks for the story BB

He was the head of the CIA! You remember why Dan Rather was fired right?! Because of an aledgedly "poorly" researched story about Bush skipping out of his AL Air National Gaurd service during Vietnam to attend Harvard Business School. How else could someone get away with that, and yet have the story almost buried, without Famliy in such a position of power. Yet they called McCain a traitor in 2000, and Kerry the same in 2004. What will be next? Joe Biden conspired with other nations to minimize Chinese production safety standards? Or, Huckabee wants a flat tax that will drive us to the poor house faster than Bush's Iraqi Freedom Project (FIASCO)?
Sorry about that; yes ICE this WEAK reality show going on in D.C. isn't just scripted; it's sponsored and broadcast in a positive light by FOX NOISE(noise instead of news; get it? hahaha yeah I know).

Firefox requires a plug-in download. Painless.
Read up on it. Then if you wish, install it. The links will lead you to a menu where you can find your particular software match. eg. windows vista, etc.

Of course, there is the Chicago option...bribe the poll workers to certify you as blind so you can get a paper ballot...
Of course that could complicate things when ya try to get your Drivers License renewed...

No, there was no follow up. The bush administration told the dept. of justice to investigate voter fraud against democrats. The DOJ found nothing after wasting a few years on it. But election fraud by republicans, which all evidence pointed to, and which was told Congress during investigations....nothing. The DOJ did nothing to investigate that. They used voter fraud against democrats as a smokescreen, and it worked.

Who cares if they are Dems or Repubs. So long as they are of good moral fiber, and most importantly have the country's best possible future in mind when making decisions affecting us all. More often then not the best course of action is not the shortest route to travel, or the least expensive, and will certainly require explanation both before and after making the decision. An explanation that doesn't divide, but enlightens. Unlike what the mental midget in the D.C.'s whitest home delivers. "Great Uniter" indeed! All we're missing now are protestors in the street, and I'm sure that won't be a reality until a draft is authorized. You know, the one Bush swore would never happen on his watch; but someone else's is another bag of lies all together! How quickly they rattle the sabre already to attack Iran; but why weren't they this cut and dry with N.Korea? Their reactor is already built, and they've supplied the Syrians! Not wanting to upset China is a pretty weak argument!

Dozens of states have adopted electronic voting technology to comply with federal legislation in 2002 intended to phase out old-fashioned lever and punch-card machines after the "hanging chads" confusion of the 2000 presidential election.
Help America Vote Act (HAVA), enacted in 2002 - provided that up to $325 million be available to states that want to replace their punch card or lever machines
Passed the House 357-48 and 92-2 in the Senate
Seems Congress rushed to correct a problem and fell into the usual trap. They failed to understand the possible consequences of their actions.
As with most of the colossal mistakes made by Congress - it had bipartisan support

nostalgia,
OTAYAD!(One Term And You Are Done!)
That should be our mantra for '08.
Let us get the career out of politics.
No benefits, no pensions, no re-election campaigns, no lobbyists.
If the candidate signs a notarized pledge to do that, let us elect him/her, no matter what party, even if no party. If the elected person does the job well, give a bonus at the end of the term, a plaque and then back to where s/he came from. Just like George Washington. A citizen legislator!
Peace and Blessings!

Like the idea, but what happens when we find a diamond in the rough. We all know what kind of coal pit Congress has become, but term limitations no matter how intelligent will never be passed by the possums in this congress! How about 2 terms, and a minimum of a 4 year gap between exiting, or prior to entering, congress to ,or from respectfully, lobbyist organizations. In any form. If you were a congressman, or worked in the Executive, or Judicial branch, you are barred from working for any company, or subsidiary, who lobby's in D.C. Like one of those confidentiality agreements some company's require people to sign. One wouldn't be able to cite the need to provide for one's family as an excuse either if the legislation was written so. Lord knows politicians love loop holes, and would abuse any found. Like Clinton with his Presidential Pardons; or Bush's when it's presented (April, 2001, on Clinton's Pardons skipping Congress approval-"What's in the past, is in the past.")

Soaries was appointed by George W. Bush as the first chair of the commission created by the federal Help America Vote Act (HAVA)
Soaries excoriates both Congress and the White House, referring to their dedication to reforming American election issues as "a charade" and "a travesty," and says the system now in place is "ripe for stealing elections and for fraud."
Soaries says there are "no standards" for voting systems and that Congress and the White House "made things worse through the passage of the Help America Vote Act."

Somebody tells a lie and everyone jumps on it because it proves their point.
Computers are safer than any other method because of the technology required to "rig" it. Somebody says it is easy and can't be found and people believe it. Both things are not true. What ever someone does another one can find it. IT people (computer geeks for companies) fight this battle every day.
A major problem is access to ALL the machines for an extended period of time. Police take a dim view of people doing that. Or it takes access to the servers that will accept the results. Try to walk into a server room in any decent size company and set down at a terminal connected to one. You will be asked lots of questions including why you turned in your resignation.

Great point nostalgia!
The only state with the "chad" issue with such great abundence, or news coverage for that matter,as FL. An easy scape goat considering it's large geriatric population, and his brother as Gov. with such a large Republican bias. That's not to say that all of FL. is that way, but it seemed as obvious then as it does now.

Pretty brave from a person that refuses to recieve private messages from people that you give nasty ones to. Next time how about let me in on what the rest of your multiple personalities know, and that why you are sending me a private message in the first place. Or is it your normal m.o. to randomly sending nasty rant and raving of profanities to people on Propeller. If so, you should seek pychiatric help as soon as possible
