      Majic is not about what you see, but what you do not see hidden in what seems to be insignificant. Except for two cards, the entire deck is double side back ends, one side blue the other side red. The there is a slight difference in the back end of the five of clubs so he knows what card to pull to show you. Then the performer shows you the five of clubs close to your face hiding that he is flipping one of the double sided cards over which goes on to of the five of clubs. When he spreds the cards again, he knows the flipped card is on top of the 5 of clubs, he seperates them, and palms the flipped card and the five of clubs together like they are only one card. If you pay attention he is really sloppy at doing this, and thats why he is holding the card bent, so you dont see two of them.

      and now for the second part of the trick, he does the same thing as the first excpect that he doesnt care if the flipped card is on top of the two of clubs, he wants the flipped card on the buttom of the deck. Then he puts the two of clubs in the middle. Then he shakes the deck again, but what you might miss is that he flipped the deck over so that when he spreds the deck again, you see the red side of the double back side cards and the 2 of clubs.

      Oh what tangle web we weave when we first learn how to deceive.

      Always disapointing when you find out that something you saw as being amazing as being a extremely simple trick.

      I felt that way when some one showed me how David Blaine did his levitation trick in public. One, because how simple it was to do. Two, because its hard to pull of if you have short feet.

        I once had a book called "Magic Throughout The Ages" which showed how a number of historical magic tricks were done, how the doors to the temple of Zeus swung open when you lit a fire to burn a sacrifice, that sort of thing. Really a fascinating book. One of the tricks was this old Indian fakir thing where sand was stirred into water then the magician reaches in and pulls out dry sand. About a year later I saw then hot as a pistol magician Doug Henning perform the trick on TV. I've never felt like such an "insider" in my life.

          It is amazing what kind of preparations some of the magicians go through to pull of their tricks. In cards its either mathmatical, slight of hand, pre-arranged deck, or all of the above. Good magicians will variate their between these techniques to keep their addience from catching on.

          I use to believe that David Copperfield was legitamately pychic because of a card trick he did on t.v. where he asked the t.v. viewers to point at any card out of a variety cards shown on the screen. Then you told you to move up, down, or across a certian amount of times, then took away all the cards away except for the card you were pointing at.

            Props are the magicians friend. I do a bit of up close tricks using trick cards...almost invisible elastic and a few other things. Its fun and easy...great for a room full of drunken..stoned people.

  I had to reset my computer yesterday from some ones post that tried to update my drivers and dropped a virus onto my hard drive.

      more than likely.

      It was one of those that tells you that your computer is infected and to go to a certian website to cleanse your computer and puts you into a porn, virus, spyware site.

  It was a MALWARE ALERT...I think it is bogus. I did a search on this.
