That is a great article, thanks- I have ancestor who also disembarked in Parrtown, NS.1783-4 It must have been some awful winter that first year. It mentions homesteaders along the riverfront- most of the lots given out were from old French farms the British government seized. Thanks for the link , I bookmarked it.

Halfax is in the East of Canada...actually the middle east. We have your location Ind. We's gonna blowed you up man. Be very careful when the headless cod arrives at your door step. It will be delivered by Bob and Tom "Sealer". They will take you out clubin' for the night.You had best put some lotion on your skin...makes it easier to remove.

Halifax is in Atlantic Canada, not eastern Canada. Some how the provinces of Ontario and Quebec managed to be in the East when an argument might be made for Quebec nothing can be said about the false description of Ontario. Canada's four Atlantic provinces are NS,NB, NFLD, and last but not least PEI.

I took a short nap in the closet...nowhere near caught up though. With my present state of mental prowess, I think I could be named the biggest dud in boomtown (Halifax). I would like to thank everyone that helped me earn that distinguished honour. (Note the spelling)!
